Friends of the Royal United Hospitals 

We provide much needed support by helping patients and their relatives throughout the hospital in various ways. Our volunteering roles range from welcoming patients to the hospital and helping them find their way to appointments, to supporting families in the Children’s Emergency Department and older patient support. The gardening volunteers maintain 20 gardens around the hospital, providing respite for staff, patients and visitors.  Last year 200 volunteers provided 22,000 hours of their time to support the RUH and The Friends. Volunteers both young and old say they get a great sense of wellbeing from helping others and enjoy connecting with patients and fellow volunteers.
